Who are we?
A story of family and travel
I’m Sarah, I’m English and my husband, Claude, is French. We have four children, a dog (Poppy), cats, ponies, hens…
We arrived in the Bugey by chance in 2004 and renovated our house, La Forge du Pérou.
In 2016 we embarked on the gîtes adventure with the opening of the Gîte de la Forge, and we enjoyed that first year so much that we successively opened a gîte in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2026.
We are delighted to share the treasures of the Bugey with our guests. Committed to the environment, we promote local producers to support short supply chains, waste sorting, composting…
In the medium term we wish to switch all the gîtes to renewable energy, to help pre…

Our story:
Renovation of the Gîte de la Forge
Eager to share the secrets of our region with family and friends, we renovated the Gîte de la Forge in 2016. We then made it available to anyone wishing to discover our marvellous region.
Acquisition of the Gîte de l'École
In 2017, after falling in love with the Gîte de l’École and its sublime view, we were able to acquire it and now offer it for holidays. Ideally located and perfectly equipped, the Gîte de l’École is ideal for families with children.
Opening of the Gîte du Grand Colombier
In 2018 we opened a new gîte, the Gîte du Grand Colombier, a more contemporary house offering a magnificent view and accommodating up to 10 people.
Acquisition of the Gîte de la Cascade
The Gîte de la Cascade is a superb house built in 1890, surrounded by rivers and blessed with a wonderful garden. It is located close to the village centre with all amenities.
Acquisition of the Maison d'Astrée
Inspired by the story of Honoré d’Urfé and his famous novel L’Astrée, whose castle remains still stand in the garden, we chose to renovate this late 19th-century residence. Our ambition was simple: to preserve the soul of this unique place and open the doors of a true haven of peace, where the murmur of the river, fed directly by the Claire Fontaine waterfall, and the beauty of the garden’s cascades invite relaxation and escape.
Opening of the Spa Suite
In keeping with our project, we imagined the Spa Suite as a true cocoon dedicated to well-being. Our wish was to create an intimate place where comfort, elegance and serenity meet. Carefully appointed, it combines the charm of authentic materials with high-end amenities. Its private spa, warm atmosphere and the surrounding calm invite you to slow down, recharge and fully enjoy a getaway for two. An invitation to reconnect, relax and enjoy a timeless stay.
Acquisition of the Clairefontaine gîte
With this new gîte, we wanted to give a new dimension to our project. The idea was born of bringing our accommodation together around the Maison d’Astrée to create the Domaine d’Astrée, a place where you come as much to stay as to live experiences. We imagine human-scale events there: gastronomic pop-ups, yoga retreats, tastings, intimate weddings, seminars and encounters around local know-how. A way to discover our region differently, in a spirit of conviviality, sharing and authenticity.
Gîtes in the heart of the Bugey
One hour from Lyon and Geneva, the Bugey is a preserved bubble of greenery that will delight you with its charm and the diversity of activities on offer.
All that remains is to choose the pool or the gîte that suits you, to make the most of your stay in the Bugey.
