The Bugey, our little corner of paradise

It was by accident that we came to the Bugey in 2004, we bought and renovated our house La Forge du Perou.

We have since travelled widely with our children in Europe and across other continents and we  always find the same pleasure in coming back home to the Bugey.

We love our mountains “Le Grand Colombier”, the waterfalls, lakes, rivers, vineyards and the Bugey wine, the friendly people and pretty stone villages.

Pet-friendly gites

Your animals are an important part of your family and we know you wish to share your holiday and the best moments of your life with them.

All our gites are pet friendly, your furry, feathery, or scaly friends are very welcome. We are also very lucky that the walks around the gites are doggie heaven.

We have a local English speaking vet; we can organise appointments for you.

Cosy house and pool with a magnificant view!

Sarah and Claude are very friendly people and give a lot of hints about potential activities in the neighbourhood.

We had a good mix of beautiful walks in the nature and relaxing at the pool or at one of the many lakes in the region. Also really enjoyed the trip to Chanaz where you have a lot of activities and charming village with small alleys and authentic shops.

Le Gîte de la Cascade - Homeaway

We, a family of 6 + 2 dogs, had another two great weeks in the Bugey, this time in the Gite de Cascade in Artemare. The owners, Sarah and Claude, have once more done their very best to allow us maximum relaxation with maximum amenities. Huge garden with plenty of possibilities for the kids. The surroundings are also smashing. Totally recommended, we shall return!

Es gibt sie noch, die guten Dinge!
Ein spontan und sehr kurzfristig gebuchter Urlaub erwies sich als ein großer Glücksgriff: Wunderschönes Haus in traumhafter Hang – Lage, unkomplizierte Abwicklung , flexible und herzliche Gastgeber, liebevolle Willkommenspräsente in Form von Käse und Wein etc etc. Eine Unterkunft, die in der Realität noch besser war, als die Bilder ahnen ließen… Wir sind zu sechst angereist – von 16 -54 Jahre, einschließlich dreier Australian Shepherds ;)- und waren ausnahmslos alle begeistert von diesem Urlaub. Das Haus lässt wirklich keine Wünsche -egal welche Altersgruppe – offen und ist mit allem, was das Herz begehrt ausgestattet. Die Umgebung ist perfekt für den Urlaub mit Hund geeignet – direkt hinter dem Haus ist man in wenigen Minuten im Wald. Das gesamte Grundstück ist eingezäunt und das Highlight die überdachte große Terrasse, die man bei jedem Wetter zu schätzen lernt. Die Gegend ist ländlich und bietet viel Abwechslung mit Seen, Wäldern, Wiesen und Flüssen. Wir kommen sicher wieder!

Fantastic stay, exceptional property and great hosts
We stayed for a week during our honeymoon with our dog Harry. Sarah and Claude were great throughout from arranging arrival, local area tips, and even recommending and booking a restaurant. Great walks, shops, bakery (best croissants ever!) and friendly local bars nearby. Spectacular views and sunset from the terrace, comfy beds, very clean and well equipped house! Too cold for pool in March but we thoroughly enjoyed garden, terrace, sauna and games room for chilled out evenings. Highly recommended!
